What do you think that it will be better for hosting prestashop, digital ocean cloud with 512 MB 1 core (http://www.cloudways.com/en/prestashop-hosting.php) , or semidedicated VPS with 2 cores 1GB Ram (https://coolicehost.com/vps-hybrid-plans.html), or super crazy turbo shared hosting (https://www.a2hosting.com/web-hosting)?

Thanks

About for hosting 3 prestashop stores with low volume of traffic but caring about speeds on customers side. Digital ocean through cloudflare offers layers with memcache, nginx, varnish and apache, other offer their own ting.

Just in need now of new hosting and Im in real doubt.

Any good hand on this one?

Digital ocean is good option but you need to manage your cloud. Digital ocean will not responsible if there is problem with your cloud. VPS or dedicated server of course are great option as it is more stable than shared hosting

Hello,

Choosing the correct hosting provider is not always an easy task.

If you choose a shared hosting you should be aware of the fact that all the resource limitation for your account will be for the 3 websites overall.

If you choose a VPS again all of the resource will be available for your 3 websites but only for them and you will not need to share any resources with other users.

If you choose a dedicated server, well you will get what you need as it will provide a standalone physical server for your websites which means that their performance will be increased.

No matter which option you will choose the facts are that you will need to optimize the loading speed of your websites manually especially if you are on VPS or DS.

What I can recommend is choosing a hosting provider who will provide you with guaranteed optimized web hosting environment specially for E-Commerce type of web applications.

Best Regards,

FastComet Team

  • 5 months later...

I've been on Prestashop since version 1.2

My business is based in South Africa.

Over the years, I have moved hosting (shared hosting) from USA to South Africa to UK. Hosts like Texo, Hetzner, Webafrica, unlimitedhosting.co.za, domains.co.za, Amplehost (SSD hosting), UKHost (I recently tested a managed VPS on here, it went slower than my shared hosting) etc.

For the past few years I have been using Hetzner locally. They were pretty good, but are very limited in customization and resource allowance on their shared hosting.

So I started looking again last month and found yoorshop.fr

I must say - I'm blown away.

Support - Not only do they respond to my queries within minutes, they also monitor my site for me and give me suggestions if something isn't behaving like it should.

Speed - I'm moved from Hetzner (locally hosted) to yoorshop.fr (Hosted in FR). The speed has INCREASED even though I am hosting internationally. I believe it is because their servers are highly optimized and not overloaded. And they specialize their optimization and cache for ecommerce sites like prestashop. This is the first host I've been on that I can see a significant speed increase throughout my site.

I am on their EUR23.95 plan so that I have the extra resources (seems to be a hybrid VPS/shared solution, but in my opinion performs better than a VPS).

I would recommend them any day, even if you just want to give your shop a speed boost.

My site is - www.geewiz.co.za
