I need two IP addresses to access maintenance mode. Very Strange

Recommended Posts

When I add my ip address to the prestashop bo maintenance mode.

Presta adds a different ip than what is reported over on http://www.whatsmyip.org/

Whats even more confusing is when I google whats my ip google gives the same ip

address that presta is using in the back office.

However when I go to whats my ip it gives a different ip than presta and google.

Anyway If I add both ip addresses to the BO the system will work...

This fact confuses the heck out of me...

Any ideas?

Thanks

The first thing I would do is determine if this is something specific to your computer -- go to a friend's house or an internet cafe and use a different computer to access your shop in maintenance mode.

I actually wouldn't just forget it. If it turns out that the issue is specific to your computer / your network that means that there is something abnormal going on with traffic routing on your computer / network. This could be nothing or it could be something really serious.

Well not sure why but I have a few hows... My computer is dell workstation with dual 6 core xeons and 24g of ram running win7.

I use this thing pretty hard and I have a couple different virtual operating systems going at the same time. So I am thinking

that win xp kept the same ip it had when i rebooted. Then win 7 aquired a new ip along side of the old ip. Its possible...

Anyway I cleared dns cache in win 7 as admin and shut down all the virtual box's I had going.

Rebooted and got a new ip address and added that to the BO. Now PS MM is working again yea.

So I will be on the look out for this issue happening again and now I now how to fix it. I guess I will kiss the last 15 or so hours good bye.

It is what it is and this issue I wont soon forget.

Now if I can get my other question about SSL and the images knocking SSL out answered . I will be golden!

Thank you both very much for taking the time to answer. I love this place!

Regards

Billy

any chance you have the computer both hard wired to the router, as well as a wireless connection?  It could be possible that your computer has 2 active network connections, and your traffic is being round robin between them
