Why Bugs ?

Recommended Posts

Every piece of software has bugs. Every version of every software has bugs.

I agree but I see that a lot of members write that they are not able to do important actions on their website after an update or clear installation and they face problems which they did not face in previous version.

I won't say that PS is bug free but due to the nature of a forum you see most of the time the people complaining who have problems. Sometimes these are real bugs sometimes it is misconfiguration or hosting related. You should test the software and see if it fits your purpose. An installation is done in a couple of minutes and testing the features that are important for you maybe a couple of hours so you should judge the usability on your own experience not what you read here. If the 1.5 branch is not working for you maybe start with an 1.4.9 installation or look for another cart solution which works better for your needs. That said I had to wait for 1.5.3 and have todo more tests untill I am quite positive that the parts I need are really working. This time consuming and sometimes annoying but atm it feels not that bad at least it seems at a stage where I might consider an upgrade but still further testing is needed.

Best regards, Trip

I have to disagre with Dh42 this time :o

In fact, prestashop has far too many bugs (I just saw 1.5.3.1 was released 3 days after the base version, since many people were not even able to upload images). And may of these are really nasty and may cause trouble, like discounts duplication.

I understand that new features can have bugs. What i have difficulty in understanding is that old features, and even basic ones, have basic bugs.

I also know that many users don't clear cache, check the host settings,... but from all the users how many have upgraded? What's the success rate? (by success i mean no new bugs on basic features)

I haven't upgraded from 1.5.2, and i will wait untill i hear more successfull upgrades... The bugs i wanted to see fixed weren't fixed... so no real reason to mess with what i have working....

Well I can say that current version of Prestashop do have bugs. I think it was released in hurry. If the developers could have a look at this thread: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/213157-images-not-showing-all-over-the-shop-prestashop-153/ and release a version that will solve my problem, or at least provide an indication for it, I will be very happy :)

I think the best way is to have Beta versions than stable version which in reality are not stable. Then we will download the beta versions and will test them. The same time we will have in our live website a real stable version. Real stable version means acceptable without critical problems from the most of members.
