dspurlock
Hello, I just downloaded Prestashop 1.4.6.2 and uploaded all the files to my root folder with filezilla. I started the install and everything worked great until I got to the Database Configuration step, I clicked "Verify" and it confirms that db details are correct, entered and verified my email, Then i click "Next" and nothing happens. The ajax loading circle rotates and the install does not go to next step. I checked all the file permissions with filezilla and everything was as it should be, On the system compatibility step everything has a green check except "Magic quotes" and that had a red x. I have read other post and tried all the suggested fixes and still nothing. I tired searching the bug tracker and I can't make heads or tails of that. When I tried to post a bug report the link took me to another website that I couldn't begin to understand. Below is my hosting information: Web Host: webhost4life.com Server OS: Windows 2003 Server Enterprise PHP Version: 5.2.5 MySQL Version: 5.0.45 Desktop OS: Windows 7 URL: www.bingotees.com IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP!!! PLEASE!!!! I NEED TO GET THIS RESOLVED ASAP!!! Thanks Dan
PrestaHeroes USA
I checked your front office, I get an 'almost' blank page with '<h4>Tags</h4>'. I tried searching for the 'tags' as a problem with ps install....but did not find anything...not this this helps but I installed 1462 cleanly on my local host to see if there was a problem, it worked fine. Can you see the ps db on your system? Maybe try renaming admin folder and trying to get into the back office. Also change config/config.inc.php @ini_set('display_errors', 'off'); to @ini_set('display_errors', 'on'); ftping to your site and see what error messages you can get out of the front office that could help determine your problem. dspurlock
Thank you so much for your reply, I have already try to get into the back office but I can't since the login info is set in step 4 which I can't get to. I also get the tags on the front office as well. Where would I find ps db? I looked in the root folder and didn't see that. I will try to change the config file and see what happens Thanks again
dspurlock
I changed it to display the errors and this is what I got: Warning: include(\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b121\whl.rdspurlock\bingotees\tools\smarty\plugins\modifier.escape.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in \\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b121\whl.rdspurlock\bingotees\tools\smarty\compile\90e3a742c0f2f3456ec57d758974d9b19a7218ff.file.blocktags.tpl.php on line 20 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b121\whl.rdspurlock\bingotees\tools\smarty\plugins\modifier.escape.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;c:\php\5\pear') in \\boswinfs03\home\users\web\b121\whl.rdspurlock\bingotees\tools\smarty\compile\90e3a742c0f2f3456ec57d758974d9b19a7218ff.file.blocktags.tpl.php on line
PrestaHeroes USA
another thing..just ftp up the install folder again. I realize that you already ftp'ed up...and after I do something like that I do a site sync using my Dreamweaver cs5, (you can trial it for free). There is always the nicky littlest thing that didn't upload correctly. Which is sounding like your problem, given just a guess.
dspurlock
OK will do, I have dreamweaver, us it all the time.

The warnings mean that the complied version of the smarty template (for performance) could not be found but should not be a problem.
dspurlock
Yeah, I created the DB and it said it was connected to the DB. I am now in the process of re-uploading the files to my server. One thing I did notice, there is 58 bytes difference in the files on my desktop and the files on the server. I am verifying that everything uploaded. Once I am finished verifying, then I am going to try to install again. If that doesn't work I guess since none of the Prestashop people are interested in helping, I will look for another application. Its a real shame there is no one to support it since it looks like a great system. I posted a bug report at noon today and there hasn't been any activity on it at all. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to get a response on a bug report? I REALLY appreciate your help. Thanks
dspurlock
Well I spent hours re-uploading and verifying the files and then tried to install again, and it just is not going to work. I am getting pretty disgusted at this point. So unless the Prestashop people decide to help, I guess I will just have to look for something else. Thanks for trying to help me. I as much as anyone understands how discouraging this sort of thing can be, but it could be any application wp/joomla etc. Personally I don't think you will find a better platform and (and I'm an apprentice mind you) feel that this is an issue with your hosting environment. Give them a call today and explain what's going on. If they can't help you then I think this is where you might want to think you support is a bit dubious. I also think you might have much more success in a linux environment. Another thing, since you have dw...why not set up your site on your locahost? and if it works there and not on your remote server...then well...remote servers are commodities, if you don't like them...get another. yes? WhiteX
Hi, I had the same problem as dspurlock, except that my installation got stuck on the "Shop Configuration" page (right after the database config page), but after that the last page of the installation didn't came up after the loading circle have disappeared. I just deleted all the tables from my shop's database, and started a new install... but the same problem happened. Fortunately the shop just works fine without the "Successfull Installation!" message... Mike Kranzler
Hi Dan, I re-read your post, and may have identified an issue with your installation. If you choose to send yourself the verification email, often slower servers (which unfortunately appears to include yours based on the test I just ran) cannot handle it and it eventually times out. Please try re-doing the installation process without sending the test email and let me know if that works better for you. I hope this helps, and if you have any additional questions, please just let me know! -Mike
dspurlock
I just tried it without testing the email and the results were the same. Thanks Danny
Mike Kranzler
Hi Danny, Believe it or not, but I just ran a test and it appears that your installation did work at some point, because your currently detected version is 1.4.6.2. For security reasons, I am going to PM you with more details that will hopefully get you up and running right now. -Mike

dspurlock
Hi Mike Sorry it didn't, I had already did that in a prior install, it appears to be a full install but isn't. My host has assigned a ticket to a technical specialist so maybe they will get back to me with good news. The tech support try to install and got the same result as I did. Thanks for your help Danny
Mike Kranzler
Hi Danny, I don't know much about webhost4life, but I can tell you that one of the best hosts to use for PrestaShop is HostGator. Some hosts either do not have the ideal server configurations for e-commerce or just don't understand PrestaShop enough to provide any real support to their users, but HostGator does well on both accounts. We've even had situations where merely switching from another host to HostGator without making any other changes has fixed the issue, so it's definitely a good one to try. Please let me know what the tech specialist tells you, I would be curious to hear their suggestions. -Mike

dspurlock
His first solution was to open a second account on their unix server. I have 8 sites with these people and I am NOT going to pay for another account, either they are going to fix it or I will move everything somewhere else. I am waiting for a reply from him. I will let you know.
