Good Grades Scores at GTMetrix Yet Slow Access

I don't quite understand how can I get the following Performance Scores at GtMetrix:

PageSpeed Score (91%) A
YSlow Score (81%) B

Yet my website is extremely slow, I am running 1.6.1 and sometimes is lightning fast and sometimes is so slow it times out.

Its because none of these scores actually measure the time it takes to load the page and factor it in the score. You likely need quicker hosting, have a bad module, or your caches are off.

Thanks for replying Dh42, but GtMetrix gives some Page Details such as:

Fully Loaded Time 2.2s
Total Page Size 1.13MB
Requests 47

Now it's lightning fast, I believe it's the hosting, it may be time to get a dedicated server, not a shared one.

There are so many variables it is hard to tell without really analyzing. It could be other sites on the server slowing the server down, it could be network issues, it could be any number of things.

GTmetrix gathers data from both Google PageSpeed and YSlow at same time, so we're using it more often than Google's alternative.On the other hand, Google PageSpeed offers neat features like download optimized images, scripts and CSS (which GTmetrix don't), so it could be a better option if you (or your client) need that.
