Composer is required for Prestashop install

Hi everyone,

I have uploaded the prestashop unzipped files (I mean completely unzipped, not the initial unzip that creates another zipped file) into the /public/presta/ folder in the Embratel hosting environment. I have chosen to put it in the /public/presta/ folder in order to not to mix up with my files in the root directory of my site.

 

I am not certain if I can do that.

 

Anyway, I tried to install prestashop for the first time by opening www.norcella.com/presta/install and get the following error.

 

Error : please install composer. Then run "php composer.phar install"

 

What should I do? Do I really need to install composer.? There is no such requirement according to the instructional video for the first time installation.

Any particular reason you unzipped everything?  You only need the initial 3 files to install PS v1.7
