Url Rewrite doesn't work with Godaddy

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I just installed prestashop and am using Godaddy for hosting. However, I can't seem to get the url rewrite to work. I keep getting the 404 error for product pages. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, I just talked with godaddy and they of course don't offer any support with third party apps, so......., I guess I could use some help here. Thanks. LOL

Just to add:

I am running my test store on the GoDaddy Linux Economy Hosting using their PHP5 and MySQL 5 install.
PrestaShop 1.0.0.8 works just fine *including* URL Rewrite (or at least it does as far as I can tell).

As per the note in the backoffice, I had to rename the Prestashop supplied htaccess.txt to .htaccess to kick it into life, that's it.

I'm having the same problem with Godaddy.com. They suck. What's so hard about letting URL rewrite work? Isnt this a number one feature for any host you pay money for?

I think this is sad. I've never had any problems with free hosts, other than temp. outages.

I was told to include

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^XXXXXX\.com
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.XXXXXX.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]

But I have no clue where to stick that in the .htaccess file

Can anyone help me with th proper placement of this so I can test?
Ill be sure to include my results.

Did you generate the htaccess file?

Yes, I've generated htaccess file.

I've done smth like this.

1. Preferences -> SEO & URL -> Enabled "Friendly URL" checkbox.
2. Tools-> Generators -> Generate htaccess.

This is all what I did so far.

When I disabled "Friendly URL", all images are there.
but once I enabled "Friendly URL", only images ain't showing.

What's the problem?

Thanks for helping me. :)

It's odd, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Thanks for helping me.

and I've smth to ask.
I've downloaded prestashop 1.4.3 to upgrade my site.
after upload, I've tried to install.
but On Install page, there is no "Next" Button.

Before loading Install page, it shows "This application need you to activate Javascript to correctly work."

What's the problem?
Plz, help me.
Thanks.
