Bad configuration file with theme

Recommended Posts

hi ,

you can try to do it manualy

i don't know what is included in the package but perhaps also an manual how to install

unzip your theme

then you will see some folders like themes - modules and perhaps some others

upload these folders and files to your hosting

chmod the neccessary folders/files

if there are modules , you need to install them < in your BO go to the tab modules >

and look for the modules what is include your theme package and install

it is possible that the possitions from the modules need to be changed

but you will see if the theme is nog the same as the demo

in this case , contact the people where you bought this theme and ask the module possitions

Same here ... manual upload won't help. The theme doesn't show up in the backend.

Then I tried to upload it as a module and gut a success message, but it doesn't show up as module anywhere.

did you unzip first the theme ?

before you did upload the theme to your folder themes on your hosting ?

cause when it is a zip file , prestashop can't see the theme

also tried after installing the theme force compile , or empty your cache on your hosting?

after you choosed the new installed theme in preferences -> appearance

in BO -> preferences -> Performance

set : force compile on yes

set : cache on no

click on save

after this put the settings back :

set : force compile to : no

set : cache to : yes

click on save

see if this did help

if not

log in in your hosting

go to the folder TOOLS

go to the folder smarty ->cache ( delete all the files in cache)

then go to the folder smarty ->cache - compile ( delete all the files EXCEPT index.php in compile )

if this still doesn't work then there is something else wrong with this theme

it is not possible to use an theme as module and won't work ofcourse cause there are much different files in an module then an theme

thanks for trying to help, maconl. Even though the mobile theme is named "theme" it seems to be a module. The config.xml says

<module>

 <displayName>Mobile Template</displayName>
 <version>0.3.6</version>

Provides a mobile template compatible with iPhone, Android, etc.

 <tab>administration</tab>
<confirmUninstall>Uninstalling this module will delete your mobile template and all the custom modifications that you may have done on it, are you sure?</confirmUninstall>
 <is_configurable>1</is_configurable>
 <need_instance>1</need_instance>
 <limited_countries></limited_countries>
</module>

Note that it is wrapped in <module> ... </module>

whereas themes are wrapped in <theme> ... </theme> in config.xml

Anyway ... installation as module was successful so far but it doesn't show up in the module list thus it can't be configured. This is the problem.
