Categories not showing after changing theme

Hello there,
I got a problem, I switched to the theme ultimate-webshop, and due this switch, the categories are not showing anymore in the front office.
Does anybody know why, and how could I fix it?

If I switch back the theme, it shows the categories, but I want to keep the ultimate-webshop theme.

I have the same issue with a different theme. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I suspect your themes arent compatible with the prestashop version you are using, this problem occurred when v1.1 came out and v1 themes needed adjustments.

Best fix is to copy over the tpl files from the default theme into your new theme.

I had the same problem and I did the following modification and the problem went away.

in file "modules/blockcategories/blockcategories.tpl", find the line:

  comment it out:
  <!--ul class="tree {if $isDhtml}dhtml{/if}"-->

Thanks! I will try this out. For now, I have just been using the default theme, and everything works correctly on there.

this fix didnt work for me any ideas?

after i did that it just moved all the side content to the bottom and still didnt display any categories?

ok nevermind ive fixed it now.

category 1 - the main category was displaying a '0' in the database so it was inactive. Changed it to '1' and everything seems ok.

it can be also because the query that takes the categories in modules/blockcategories/blockcategories.php failes

and my reason was because mysql hadn't the tmp directory writable . when I moved some presta websites on a new server

Also I have found that error can be oocured by the error lang tag in category_lang DB

it should be the same with your child land id
