Luc Lérot Freelance
Hi, Don't get it wrong I'm a Prestashop Developer, and I'm happy with it. But I think that new platform increases complexity of coding and doesn't have that 'natural way of coding' which made Prestashop so popular (in my point of view). Having to create all those files and repository to code a simple News module for example (and not having it working if you name your controller the wrong way) is what made me not go on with Magento. What are your thoughts ?
Mike Kranzler
Hi luclerot, PrestaShop version 1.5 was developed with very strong and consistent input from our community, across months of development and many beta versions where we solicited any and all input. If you think there is something that can be improved before the final release, I would encourage you to post it here. -Mike
Luc Lérot Freelance
Sure, I understand that (and we did post some stuff in there). But all I'd like is some replies from coders about the resulting platform and the way they handle the production process with it. What about you by the way Mike ? I'm not a developer so I can't talk too much about the coding side, but having played around quite a bit with the various betas of the new version, I can say it's certainly a great step forward and our team has implemented quite a bit of the community's suggestions and contributions. -Mike
Richard S
I personally have doubts about the new BackOffice Design. It is either I am not used to it and it is new, but I do not find it comfortable and those tables and everything is so scattered... The design seems to be unfinished and lacking something. Do not know how to explain this, maybe this feeling is get because of the fluid design... There's a big difference from FO which looks just great. merlin-1
I do not find it comfortable and those tables and everything is so scattered... I have to agree. I started a new site today with 1.5 for the first time and entering products seems very clumsy. I know being new it will take time to get used to. But it seems like way more messing around in BO. Seems what was a clean one page interface for products is now several steps. Again, I guess it will take time to get used to. I would not want to enter 100 products this way. I have no doubt there must be some great advantages here. But after a couple hours it's clear it's just more work. Hate to be that guy that "doesn't have time for something new" but I think I'm going to just use 1.4x on new site, this time anyway
monstercreativestudio
i am happy with the interface. I am not happy with the fact that things are always broken and don't work out of the box. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a shipping module working!!! they are all broken!!
