Paul Reading
I am considering Presta Shop and see that you can import using csv however I cannot see any instructions as to how to do this. Do you have to pre-create the categories or will it make them on the fly? How are images dealt with, do you have to manually add them at a later stage? I have 4-5 thousand products to list and content management is my biggest problem.

jhnstcks
Tropisch that day was last November for one of my sites and this year for my other 2 sites. Just because you cannot do it, doesnt mean it doesnt work.PaulThe categories can be created on-the-fly if you import just the products, but then they wont have any descriptions and meta data. You could create a separate csv file for your categories and import that, you can include description and meta data, images in the category csv. There is an import field for images, you enter the full url and the import will do fetch it from that url. Multipule images ca be separated by a comma. The only problem I have encountered so far with the csv import is that large csv files tend to timeout as they take along time to import, especially with images. The best way I found was to split the file into smaller files of about 500 products, but it really depends on your server timeout setting.
Star
I used this way and uploaded 25,00 products and 100 categories and subcategories without problems. Try it out yourself. It may help.http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/13047/general_discussion/tutorial_on_how_to_import_categories_and_subcategories_with_csv

Hoodgrown
Yea I just got this import working. Easy as pie. But then again my products don't have a lot of attributes or anything either.
SonnyBoyII
Importing products into PS is like walking on water; one day there will be someone who will succeed. I am the one.It works. Remember, one import for categories-subcategories, then next, import products. The key is to use predefined categories ids and product ids.
