Removing URL ID numbers from product, category pages etc.

Could anyone please let me know how to remove product ids from product, category and other page URLs without using any module? I know module developers will be eager to sell me a module to do so. But I am looking for a solutions which can be implemented without using any module.

If you still need it, module will be the best solution to do it. Changing something in the ps core can be hard. If you still need some module solution, let me know in private.

You will not be able to do on your own unless you are pretty skilled. 

At a project director I seldom  recommend removing native ps id from urls for technical reasons and now that you can show pretty url in most ad campaigns, which why pretty urls were worth changing ps core.  

You will want to embrace developers who create feature if you want to have more than a default shop.

There is plenty of information in the ps fev docs, a dev section etc to help you spin up on the how to but seems like a lot work for little gain.  See Amazon url.
