curtdonohue
Can anyone tell me how to create a favicon? I tried to create a 16x16 pixel .ico file type in GIMP, but I'm only getting a white colored square. How do you create favicons? What program do you use? Thanks!Curt Donohue

shokinro
I did that a few months ago for my PrestaShop, I summarized it in my blog. You can take a look it here http://alvinjiang.blogspot.com/2010/04/prestashop-tips-how-to-setup-favicon.html
curtdonohue
You search google for fav.ico generators, it brings up a long list! This is the 1st one I came across! Hope it helps! Thanks for the help! I used a favicon generator at http://www.favicongenerator.com/ and it converted my .jpg file into a nice favicon. I then uploaded that favicon in Back Office >> Preferences >> Appearance in the Favicon uploader. The favicon shows up on that admin page as the "The favicon used by your shop." The problem I'm having is that the favicon does not actually show up in the browser tab. It is a white block instead of the green block with black lettering. Any ideas?Curt
robkwal
I suffered a similar problem when I uploaded my fav.ico, so uploaded it to my severs root directory manually. This solved the problem for me, so could be worth a shot!!!
robkwal
Try clearing your cache in IE, and view your site in one of the other popular browsers. To see weather it has taken effect there!

curtdonohue
Thanks everyone. Closing and reopening Mozilla Firefox solved my problem. Apparently it was a caching issue. I appreciate all your help. And, yes, the above website is the correct address.Curt
