Problem with Module

Hi,

 

I'm new to prestashop and i've been asked to manage the shop of a company. (Which stresses me a bit)

 

I have now a big problem. When you go to Positions > Live Edit.. it doesn't work so well on ours pc's.

 

I wanted to delete the white box at the top center with written: Contact US , because we don't need it ...

 

But when i deleted it... (or at least i though i did) the whole design messed up.

As you can see it's really ugly right now. with the pictures from the slider.

 

The big problem is that i don't know the name of the module i have deleted and so i don't know how to restore it to have a nice design again.

 

Can you please urgenlty help me ??

By default the module that displays phone, email and contact us link is Contact Block. But depending on the store configuration and level of customization there might be other modules that display the contact us link.

 

It's best to avoid the Live Edit feature, you are not the first to have it's layout messed up by it. Maybe Live Edit might work well on the default theme (wouldn't count on it), but when combined with 3rd-party themes it's a recipe for disaster. It's safer to make all the customizations from Back Office.

 

If it's only one module on one position you are lucky, I've read cases here on forum of others who by removing one module using Live Edit caused a cascade of removals of other modules on other positions.

Thanks! I have indeed been able to delete the "contact us" part.

But the rest of the site still looks messed up :s can i restore something? Cuz i can see the logs, but i can't recall or restore them. What makes it kinda useless.

 

I've tried uninstalling the CS Slider and installing it again, but didn't work. When i uninstall it... the rest seems to be fine.

So it seems the Slider is incorrectly coded or something... something really weird.

 

 

PS: on the other hand i need to delete the:"Promotion, Stemap, Wishlist and contact" and the Log In / Subscribe button + Language button should be moved to the blue bloock next to shopping cart... but no idea how to do it without using CSS

 

PS2 : yeah i know... my boss is asking a lot to someone who's completly new to this without any formation

Did you make a full backup before editing? If so, maybe use an FTP program (FileZilla, for instance) and upload the public_html folder back to the root to start fresh.

 

Before doing this, maybe back up what you already have. Ask your boss for a raise! This is not easy for anyone.

No i didn't ... cuz i still dodn't get the access to the FTP server :s so i have to do a lot , but with limited ressources for the moment.. really hard.
 

Can't i start all over without losing the products and prices and such?

If i have to redo everything... at least it will work at the end...
