Free shipping on variants

Hello

 

I am working on a book-shop. There are three variants: Print, Digital and Print&Digital. If I buy a digital book, I have no shipping costs. With the price rules I can only say that it has free shipping when AT LEAST one digital-variant is in the cart. So if I add a print book to my cart it's still shipping-free.

So how can add shipping costs to a variant?

One workaround is create separated product items for digital and print.

for digital item - set it as downloadable virtual product so there will be shipping fee charges

for print item - set it as normal product so shipping will be required based on your shipping configuration.

 

but for print, you can also allow user to download - add link to order confirmation or order history (needs some customisation)
