Not sure which file to edit in order to change the DOM of prestashop

I was going to change the home slider width to full screen size. On one of the tutorial I've found online suggest me to move the div tag than contains the homeslider out of the "containers" tag.

When I change anything in the file in  themes/default-prestashop/header.tpl that does not have any effect on the page at all. Does anyone have any idea which and where I could change to change the DOM structure of the prestashop webpage?

 

ps: I have multistore activated.

Thanks a lot for that it worked when I changed to force compile.
