My domain name for Prestashop Cloud end up at Cloud control panel not to the webstore

GCNZ

Question

Hi,

I'm setting up my store and linked one of my domain to the shop.

I have set the IP correctly and the management console showed it's ACTIVE

However whether it's www.XXX.COM or just XXXX.COM not, it only point to cloud console page, not actual webstore.

It only point to

https://www.prestashop.com/cloud/en/my-stores?init=listing

I have not made it as PRIMARY as I do not have plan to do it. Does it only redirect to the store if it set to PRIMAY? I have few domain names and I would like to all of them point to the webstore.

My domain to test is globalcomputer.co.nz / www.globalcomputer.co.nz

It should direct to gc.pswebstore.com not https://www.prestashop.com/cloud/en/my-stores?init=listing

Can anybody help me what shall I do?

Cheers

If you don't add the Prestashop IP as primary, the requests will not open your shop. Follow the instructions correctly by adding Prestashop's IP (finally is there where your clients should find your shop) and all is going right.

Primary means: All trying to access your address, will find it there.

Secondary: All trying to access your address and this address is not available (server down for ex). will access secondary IP. BUT as you don't have any shop there, they will go into loop, or nirvana.

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

The Prestashop Cloud document said (http://doc.prestashop.com/display/CLOUD/Managing+domain+names#Managingdomainnames-AddinganexistingdomainnametoPrestaShopCloud)

"As the text explains, you have to configure the domain name's name server settings (or DNS)'s Type A record to point to the server's IP: 37.59.161.130 or 192.99.143.140 depending on your location. Follow the instructions on the screen, and within 24 to 72 hours, your store will be available on your domain from anywhere in the world.

Remember to have both example.org and www.example.org point to the server's IP, since they are two different addresses."

Which I understand that all I have to do is change A record of the zone of the given domain to 192.99.143.140 as shown on the picture.

however it also said

"In the case of PrestaShop Cloud, PrestaShop is the webhost, and you should have your domain's name server settings point to 37.59.161.130 if you are in Europe or in Africa, or 192.99.143.140 if you are in North America, South America, Asia or Oceania."

Which I understand that I have to change DNS for the domain to 192.99.143.140

Which is correct?

I rather want to use the former example so I can manage other host and MX record myself.

If the later one have to be used, is there any way to control it's zone file?

My domain is hosted by Hostmonster and I have changed DNS record for A record to 192.99.143.140 as the instruction said.

However when I type www.globalcomputer.co.nz or globalcomputer.co.nz it goes to the prestashop cloud control panel not the actual webstore.

Which is same to happen when I type http://192.99.143.140 directly.

What I wonder is that Prestashop Cloud have a glitch that they should add the globalcomputer.co.nz / www.globalcomputer.co.nz on its virtual host list but didn't

Please correct me I'm wrong. The instruction clearly said to change A record of the DNS zone file, not change the DNS to the 192.99.143.140 . Afterall, when I NSLOOKUP 192.99.143.140 there is no record found for domain globalcomputer.co.nz

You will not find your domain with nslookup at IP 192.99.143.140 cause this is a colect IP, this means: under this IP you will find several domains and not only one specific.

If Iping globalcomputer.co.nz (without www) and with www, I get the same error answer, although the domain is already pointing to Prestashop Cloud IP. Althoug the domian is redirected to Prestashop's Servers your domain is not answering properly (1 byte lost - 25% lost). You should contact your domain provider.  Something is going wrong on his DNS server.

If your provider says that tests are passing his server, than you should use on the administration site of your cloud shop the tab "support" and ask for direct support by referencing to this thread.

Is not an issue, but a bad configuration of your DNS server, if you bought a domain outside from Prestashop. You should contact your DNS (domain) provider, or at least use the support option of your Prestashop Addons Cloud account, for to fix your problem, cause it is an isolated and special case and not a general issue.

I have received email from support team, confirmed that my DNS setting was correct and now it point to gc.pswebstore.com correctly.

The support team also confirmed that I have to also add www.globalcomputers.co.nz separately to correctly point to gc.pswebstore.com as well.

Conclusion is there was a glitch and all we have to do is modify zone file and point @ and www to IP 192.99.143.140 on A record. That's all.

No need to change DNS to IP 192.99.143.140 and actually shouldn't I think

Anyway problem solved. Thanks!

There was nothing misconfigured DNS setting as I have followed exactly what the document asked. "Point A record to the IP 192.99.143.140"

It was a Prestashop cloud had a glitch that not update its virtual host setting that give the alias name to point to given virtual host, not it's default host.

After all, I did not change any DNS zone file, it just works after the support team fixed the problem and replied back. They fixed their server configuration, not my DNS zone file.

OK, clear now. But is war not clear on latest topic who set what and where. Zones you set on DNS servers and not on other servers. What I can imagine is that Prestashop server didn't refreshed the pointer list and a manual entry or flush of cache was necessary to recognize the new pointer.

Hello

I have a similar problem

My website is www.redtagbazaar.com

But when i i have changed only A Pointers of www.redtagbazaar.com and redtagbazaar.com to 192.99.143.140

Rest of the A Pointers are having their own IP's. (Like mx, pop, ftp, mail, email etc).

Now when i am clicking my website www.redtagbazaar.com it is redirecting me to rt-bazaar.pswebstore.com

Please let me know how to configure it as i am not a pro and i am just a beginner in all fields of domain hosting, prestashop cloud version.

Please HELP !!!!!
