How to remove "Sign up for our newsletter!" option from Guest Checkout form? in Prestashop 1.6?

Hello,

 

I have enabled guest checkout.  I would like to know how to control this form.  I need to remove "Sign up for our newsletter" option as well as "Receive Special Offers From Our Partners!".  I would like to know if I can do this from prestashop backend or if I need to edit the template files.  One another thing would be nice to know how to edit what is required or isn't.  But my priority now is removing Receive Special Offers From Our Partners and Sign Up For Our Newsletter select boxes from guest checkout form.

Hi,

Have a look at those files:

/themes/default-bootstrap/authentication.tpl

/controllers/front/AuthController.php

/classes/Customer.php

Make a backup of those files and remove/  comment everything you find connected with those fields.

Are you using OPC? If so, the file you need to modify is order-opc-new-account.tpl

Awesome, I will edit the template files directly.  Sometimes I'm unsure if I should be making edits via BO or code edits.

I dunno when it was implemented but we're using Prestashop 1.6.1.x and can enable/disable both of those options from the Back Office by going to BO > Preferences > Customers

 

There's no need to mess around with file modifications.
