Slow site & first bite time

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone,

First time user/poster.

My website is BEYOND acceptable slow.. sometimes ranging 10-20s even. I have run using http://www.webpagetest.org.

My first byte time seems to be the major issue currently.

I need this site up and running, and if not solved ASAP I'm just going to switch to Shopify.

My back end office is slow to register and log into also.

Very odd, I have to say. I've seen a few people now with the exact same issues. I can't help but think there is more going on here than the host.

I am going to try creating another sandbox yet again and try upgrading to the newest version of 1.6.

I will report back with my findings.

Guys I'm having he same problem as well.
Some things that I've noticed in trying to figure out what is going on.

1. I cannot log into my addons account from the backoffice on any of my sites (all are running on my server)

2. The vast majority of the time being spent is in refreshing metadata on modules.

3. All prestashop versions installed are 1.6.0.5 to 1.6.0.14

Hope to here back some positive findings!

Appreciate any and all help.

Quick addition.

I have also noticed spikes in I/O usage..

'You had 1883 I/O usage out of 2048 max I/O usage allowed"

Anyone else with these problems have issues with I/O usages?

I figured out what the issue was for me. My server was blocking Prestashop's api.addons.prestashop.com and their newsfeed URL. This caused the performance problem that I was experiencing. https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/431450-load-time-15781-ms-youd-better-run-your-shop-on-a-toaster/

An indicator that this is your problem as well would be that the files in the directory config/xml/ are not getting updated or the newsfeed from Prestashop is not displaying on the dashboard.

Anyone at all... have any suggestions/help??

Pretty much ready to kick PRESTA and GODADDY out of my life...

can you post screen capture of back office-->advanced parms->performance

looks like you have forced smarty cache, if not that then you will need to do more debug (google prestashop profiling).

I don't know why. it is not letting me attach any files.

Smarty:

set to recompile temp if file have been updated

Cache: Yes

DEbug mode:  Both set to no

CCC:

Currently all set to yes ( done recently to see if this would help solve the problem)

Caching at the bottom:

Recently set to NO,  ( done recently to see if this would help solve the problem)

This is not the case for me. I am receiving news feeds etc just fine.

No one seems to provide a solution.. Not much support with prestashop it seems sadly

lots of support in community, disparaging it won't get you more help.  if you have money making shop, then you can look for private expert to review closely your shop..

you want a solution? move to managed hosting, this way if you have issue they can help you resolve....

Im not disparaging it.

I have spent a lot of time with prestashop. and I just want it working so I can continue to use it.

Im not looking to abandon all my work put in.

the help i have found was:

define('_PS_DEBUG_PROFILING_', false)

if you visit the site its showing whats going on. I just have to interpret how to fix all that now..

looking at your page source, neither .css or .js files are CCC (see ps performance screen for settings).  Also you have .js loading top, this will 'significantly' slowdown your 'above the page fold' render.

your (from profiling) intiContent is blocking also, this can be for any number of reasons, typically a module has been installed.  You can disable 3rd party modules/overrides in same performance screen to see if this unblocks or at least reduces intiContent.

my advice is to capture data for later review and turn off profiling as all visitors can see it and also slows your shop.
