kingsinnersoul
I am trying to use the Prestashop Store Manager to uploade some of my products, and I have several 100s of products that use the same set of images. I uploaded those images to my server under img/tmp/ folder and I noted those URLs in the image-urls field. The problem I am facing with the Store Manager is that it downloads the images from the provide URL to my local HDD and then uploads them to the appropriate filder structure for each product. This process kills my bandwidh for the server and I would like to avoid doing so because essentially I just need to copy+paste it. When I tried to use the native Prestashop 1.6.x CSV import tool, I specified the product's ID and URL, but it failed because it was missing the name, url-rewritten, etc, etc... Is there an easy way to mass add, update, or modify images for existing products?
bellini13
tell us the exact version of Prestashop, and also provide the csv file you are using (just leave the header and 1 product row in the file). if these are existing products, you do not need to provide the extra fields in the csv file. Iryna
According to PrestaShop logic, images you upload are being placed to imp/p folder at your server. There are created subfolders, basing on image ID, for example, imp/p/1/2 folder is created for image with ID 12. Here you can find main image and its thumbnails. In this way when you upload products from img/tmp folder, Store Manager works according to this logic - images are being downloaded to the local temporary folder, resized and uploaded to appropriate folders, basing on image IDs. If one and the same image should be assigned to several products, it is being uploaded several times, gets new IDs and there are created as many folders as many products the image is assigned to. These operations create FTP tasks, what overloads your server. You can reduce FTP threads to 3 in Preferences->FTP->Additional. Note, this will slow down the upload processOne more thing, you should note is that image upload is a one time procedure and there is no need to renew them on a daily basis. Iryna
Nevertheless, the idea of copying images from server to correct image folder without downloading it to locally is a good idea. eMagicOne Team will consider implementing this functional possibility in future Store Manager for PrestaShop releases.
