Product Sort Order does not "stick" in 1.6.0.9

recently upgraded to 1.6.0.9 from 1.5.6.2 and have had all kinds of stuff blow up on me 

 

I move a product to a new location in the sort order and the little green overlay appears that says "Update Successful" yet even after a refresh on the front end category page the product does not display in the new sorted order that was supposedly just saved.

Yes, because I am having to rewrite the template I paid good money for - I have caching turned OFF.

 

Seems like this is a lingering problem :/

 

(NOTE: It appears that database table ps_category_product is not getting updated, even though the application says that it was.)

Has there STILL Not been a fix for this issue??

I can modify the sort order in the raw tables, but that is getting really old!

I have checked the adminproductscontroller.php file as well as the products.php class file and the dbquery.php file and found nothing that appears to be causing the problem. I think I am missing something - anyone??

obewanz, did you ever find a solution to this nasty bug?

 

Is it related to 1.6.0.9 only? Anyone know of a fix?
