"impact on weight" has no effect on cart calculations

I have a strange bug that i cannot find a solution to, i have a combination which alters the weight and subiquently should alter the shipping cost but selecting the relevant combinations does not change the carts weight calculations

 

For example if a customer goes to a single product which has 2 options (dvd version or usb version)

 

If they select usb then the shipping should be free which works

 

if they select DVD there is a impact on weight set which increases the weight of the item and the cart should change from free shipping to a relevant courier but this doesnt happen, it remains free shipping.

All couriers are set up correctly but it appers that the Impact on weight simply isnt registered in the cart process.

 

I have posted a bug report but thought i would post here to see if anyone already has a solution

Have you tried debugging with smarty? From there you can see what the weight is actually being registered at. That is the first thing I would do.

I have the same issue. No matter what weight  the weight of the items I put into the cart I enter or what shipper I choose the shipping price remains the same.

I do have shipping set to calculate based on weight.
