Question

FAO: Prestashop Team

Although the new site looks very cool, there are a few additional features such as the spell checker which improve the forum however please bring back the following features included in the last forum.

1) Read new posts
2) Read replies to your own posts
3) current members browsing topic/message
4) Members group ie. full members jr etc.
5) possibly the old editor with the new smileys & spellcheck facility

Where have all the Private messages disappeared to :snake:
If you are going to update the site don't just limit us to new features.
Bring those useful ones back to

Apart from that little moan you guys are doing a great Job.
But please keep us updating more regularly with progress for new versions & many display percentage bug/feature tracking section for the site ;-)

Hi amwdesign,

Thanks for your input, as always.

With this new site, we have changed not only the design but the forum software, as well. This is why some of the old features are not included by default.

However, we will work hard to get the new forum's feature set up to speed.

Specifically:

1) Read new posts - This should be easy to implement. Feature request submitted to the dev team.
2) Read replies to your own posts - Feature request submitted to the dev team.
3) current members browsing topic/message - This should be easy to implement. Feature request submitted to the dev team.
4) Members group ie. full members jr etc. - I will be implementing this later on today.
5) possibly the old editor with the new smileys & spellcheck facility - We are looking for a compatible WYSIWYG editor. Stay tuned. In the meantime, I have activated Textile markup language for the Forum. Feel free to use it to create more sophisticated posts. ;-)

Where have all the Private messages disappeared to - I have asked the dev team to look into recovering all old PM's. I miss mine, too!

Please keep us updating more regularly with progress for new versions & many display percentage bug/feature tracking section for the site - Keep an eye out for the new Bug Tracker feature on the Website. It should make all our lives much easier! As for Features, we hope to keep it as up-to-date as possible.

Oh & what happened to showing if the user is currently online - I assume you mean via the icon next to one's avatar? Feature request submitted to the dev team. In the meantime, you can always check the footer on the Forum Homepage to see who is currently online.

where are the Attachments - I agree that this is a major oversight on our part. I've submitted an urgent bug report to the dev team.

Just a quick note you should add Prestashop to the allowed list when spell checking

Hi amwdesign,

Glad to be of service. The team took the new site live while I was on holiday so I'm only now getting my hands dirty with it. :coolsmirk:

Just a quick note you should add Prestashop to the allowed list when spell checking

Duly noted.

Links within posts should be opened in a new window

This is also a pet peeve of mine. Duly noted.

Unfortunately I am unable to implement many of these changes, as they reside outside of my programming aptitude. Rémi, our in-house Website specialist, returns in a week.

In the meantime, I have managed to implement a ranking system for forum members.

Keep those ideas and suggestions coming! :)

you did say keep them coming

I have just copied & pasted some code into a post & one issue I have is the code box doesn't stretch all the way across the screen & I feel that this should show Indentation instead of word wrap which is quite difficult to understand the code.

OK here is another request

It would be nice to go on the homepage to view the latest posts but show different language's grouped together using tabs I have created a quick example on how I think this should work also probably better to have the subject before showing who has posted :coolsmirk:

This should be quite easy if each language is using id in the DB just filter out for each tab for the latest posts specified to the language.

Glad to see the rankings are back :-P

Two small requests

1) Downloads should be ordered by newest first, otherwise it is confusing which one is the latest unless maybe there should be a date & time next to each ;-)
2) Please increase the size by 50% for image attachments on the forum ;-)

Yes !

- no more post number (useless, just click on profile to see it)

- no more join date (useless)

- stars are now just under nickname

- stars no more green (too flashy !!)

- AND updated ranks (need more posts to gain ranks)

It's really good to see another new feature on the forum.
You have the Online status in text I can see why to make it completely obvious to peopl here, but it would be really nice if the squares could be filled in blue or even the floasent green when online as well as the text, should be a quick mod ;-)
I thought that was quite eye catching ;-P

Stars aren't bad but could do with maybe being the same colour as the members name or even the rank, they are hard to view at present ;-)

For those people who don't realise what the icons are fore maybe right somewhere ONLINE below icon to the right of the ranking ;-)

also tiny microscopic css bug found in IE7 with the members name line-height :P

I made no changes to stars !

As I was explained you, why do you want stars to be so visible ?
Are they so importants ?

Don't you think message content is more important than stars ?
Stars are just here for fun, it's not the award of the best rank/stars.

Why do you want to see them so much ?

Nop, force user to open link in new window/tab is bad.

Each user should have the right to choose how he want to open links.
He can open it in new window or tab by using his browser shortcuts (eg. right click) or simple open it in same window.

But use a target on link is a non W3C compliant !!!

It would be useful to have a "Mark all Read" type button so you don't see the same old posts over and over again. This is a very common forum feature.

Something I have not seen before but that would be nice is the ability to filter out threads by language.

Hello! I just wanted to submit 2 feature requests for the forum, and I found this topic, so I'm doing it here instead of opening a new topic.

#1: Could you tweak the SUBJECT field for the notification emails we receive, so the subject is common among emails regarding replies in the same topic? For example, instead of having:

MEMBERNAME replied to TOPICNAME

we could have:

A new reply was posted to topic TOPICNAME

This way, Gmail could recognize and properly group the relevant mails together, instead of creating one thread per new email for the same topic.

#2: Could we have a short "grace period" during which we would edit a freshly submitted post and not have the "Edited" stamp added underneath it? I understand the rationale behind marking a post as having been edited, but I'm talking really short, 2 or 3 minutes max.

Thanks!

I see that this one has been implemented. Many thanks! :D

Hello again!

I'm browsing the forum very often using my Android smartphone. The mobile theme displayed automatically is, if I'm not mistaken, the default of IP.Board. Which is quite nice and low on resources, but it has a major flaw: no button or link to follow/subscribe to a topic. The only visible way to subscribe is to click the "Full version" link on the bottom, get the desktop version of the page and then click on the "Follow" button on the upper right. Yesterday, I tried this successfully but then I couldn't find a button or link to revert back to the mobile theme. The only way I managed to return to the mobile theme was to erase all cookies from my mobile browser, which of course cancelled any active logins in all the other websites I frequent. Major bummer!

So, my question is this:

Can we have "Follow" functionality added to the mobile theme? If not, could we at least have a visible way to revert to the mobile theme, when we have temporarily chosen the desktop theme?

Many thanks!
