Newsletter Required During Checkout

Checkout requires agreeing to be placed on the Newsletter list.  How can I disable that?  Thanks.

Hi,

That's weird, the newsletter signup is no mandatory field by default. Did you do any modification to the shop? Are you using the custom theme? Also, what's your Prestashop version?

I'm using the default theme 1.5.5.  I guess I must have done something, but I don't know what it was or when.  I've combed through the Preferences menu and can't find any place to Require or not Require the Newsletter.  I hope you can help.  Thanks.

I found the problem last night.  I'm using the default theme v1.5.5.  The newsletter requirement is found under Customer-->Customer page.  At the bottom of my customer list of names, there's a "Set Required Fields for this Section."  That's where I found it and some other registration requirements that can be turned on or off.

I tried what you said but now the custumer page won't open. the whole page stayes blanc. This is a new problem i have.
