How to Open an Exported CSV File

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2-part question about product csv export/import.

1) I'm trying to figure out uploading and editing bulk product feeds, and at first, I exported a product csv under Catalog > Products. When I open it in Excel, the below is what I get:

http://www.mimazee.com/deep/csv.png

They look all jumbled up. What am I doing wrong?

2) If I convert the original to navigate properly in Excel, what steps should I take to save that file properly to import it back to the store?

Thank you very much for your time in advance,

KidTao

Thank you for your quick response.

I didn't get any dialog box to define the delimiter when I opened the file in Excel, so there was nothing to "open it as".

The second part is what steps/settings I would need to take with the revised file in order to make sure it will be imported back to the store properly when I am done adding all the products to it.

Hope this clears it out.

for question 1,

it would appear that ; is the delimiter,

did you open as comma delimited?

I didn't get to question 2

I think I can help. I just got my import/export to work for me.

You need to change the settings from a semicolon to a comma. That should break the data into fields instead of 1 column.

Try that and let me know how it goes.
