Recommended Posts

This interview was originally published on the blog of Yotpo Social Reviews and was written by Justin Butlion, the Marketing Manager of Yotpo. We decided to share the post with the whole Prestashop community. Enjoy.

The Prestashop forum is one of the biggest, if not the biggest online forums related to eCommerce on the Internet. Everyday thousands of new posts and comments are added to the forum which either adds to the conversation and provides great value or dilutes the combined power of over 500,000 store owners, developers and eCommerce experts. Milos Myszczuk AKA “Vekia” is one of a handful of administrators who are responsible for monitoring the activity on the forum and to make sure that users are sticking to the forums guidelines. In this interview post, Milos explains how he got involved in the Prestashop forum and what it’s like to be an administrator on one of the largest forums on the Internet.

1. Please introduce yourself and tell our readers what you are doing these days.

Hello, My name is Milos Myszczuk (aka Vekia on the Prestashop Forum), I’m from Poland. I’m a company owner which develops web applications related to eCommerce (Mainly ERP integrations). I’m also one from the main moderators on the official PrestaShop forum. My main job there is to help other merchants. I try to help everyone, solving problems one by one.

2. How did you first get involved with Prestashop and end up as one of their forum administrators.

My experience with PrestaShop began in 2008. With one of my customer we were looking for a good eCommerce solution.PrestaShop 1.0 met our needs at that time, and so it all began. At first I did not believe that the store in version 1.0 would be perfect, but I was wrong. Even in those days it was really a very good solution. In 2010 I registered to the official community forum. I signed up there to look for solutions to my problems, I gained a lot of experience then I started to help others. My contribution to the community was recognized and thus I became the person who manages the forum and helping others at the same time.

3. What is it like to be an administrator on the Prestashop forum?

Helping others is an unimaginable dose of positive energy. Troubleshooting and contributing to the community is very motivating for further work. I am glad that I can help others make money. It is also a huge responsibility, you have to be patient in dealing with merchants without any knowledge about developing. But here is the deal, to help those who have no idea how to solve problems. As a result, many people are choosing Prestashop.

4. What do you find special about Prestashop compared to other eCommerce platforms?

I had contact with a large number of eCommerce solutions including my own shop script. None of them did not provide me flexibility that PrestaShop offers. Because of this I decided to only use the PS engine. PrestaShop is very easy to use & configure, this is the main advantage of the Prestashop engine. You can run your own eCommerce business without any development knowledge. Just install the default package and you will have a working store. Moreover, you can use script in every country you want because prestashop is really flexible. This is important because of the large differences between countries for tax, legal and linguistics.

5. As a Prestashop expert could you name your number 1 tip for Prestashop store owners.

I recommend everybody to join the community. The forum is an incredibly large source for news, solutions and interesting discussions. Participation in the life of the community will help you gain experience in both the technical and marketing aspects.

6. Have you had the chance to use or experience Yotpo on a Prestashop store? What do you think?

Of course. I have clients from all over the world. more and more people are asking about your application. In my view, Yotpo is the absolute leader in this field. Mainly because of the ease of use and functionality. Keep in mind that not everyone is a programmer, in this case the app and the whole service must be intuitive and above all understandable to people who are not computer experts. Yotpo meets these criteria.

7. What are your predictions for the future of Prestashop and the eCommerce space in general?

In my opinion, the whole ecommerce world will be focused on phones and tablets. Prestashop’s development and the development of the entire eCommerce industry should move in that direction to meet the needs of people from all over the world.
