Hi,

Am using 1.5.4 and shop is online at www.smokeplanet.com. My 1&1 hosting does not allow to open the translation fields as there are more than 1000 fields. Exporting the theme language does not let me find the files that I need to translate into dutch such as:

Where can I find these files on the server to download them, edit them in dutch and upload them again?

Thank you!

the translation files (or in your case lack of) are contained in each individual module.

try this first: back office-->modules-->(click the module configure if it has one)-->top right click module translation flag you want to work with. Note this won't work have access to the configure for non-configurable modules...nor emails/back office/front office...etc.

This is a trick to see if you can circumvent the suhosin limit on your hosting. If this does not work and your host will not increase these values...then IMHO you need a new hosting plan.

Why? you can not simply create a translation ,there is a key generated by ps that is included in the file, and I don't know there is a way to generate that key and create the file manually.

Another work around would be to download your files/db and create a running localhost copy of your site. There you can do the translations and then ftp them to your remote host. <<<--best method of my musings

if you're able - create a mirror of your store on your localhost, then you will be able to do anything you want (increasing the max input vars also) - after this you will be able to translate store on your localhost

This is also what I recommend...then you also have a 'back up' of your site locally...if you use say Dreamweaver you can then sync your files..much easier to make/test changes than ftp.
