Dupicate default theme, change color, i use name for color (red, blue, lima and not #d25b5b, #83b0de, # c3eef1). If it is a shared one and you host on an overloaded server ( http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/) than your site can't fly like a jet.
