PayPal Partial/Standard Refund Issues.

Hi,

We just upgraded to PS. v.1.5.4.1 and using PayPal Module v.3.5.0.

Is anybody else having issues issuing refunds for orders having been completed via PayPal?

The "refund entire transaction" button works fine (the paypal block in the order details under the customer information block). However, when we try to issue a partial or full refund the "regular" method it results in an error. Trying to issue a refund by using the "Partial Refund" and/or "Standard Refunds" at the top results in a blank page with an error message that states the transaction_id is valid or null (something along those lines).

If we hit the back button, it goes back to the order details. Under the product list/details it shows the item(s) as being refunded. The refund count column is correct; however, a credit slip is not generated and at most only the S&H fees are refunded. We've had to issue the rest of the amount (cost of products) the manual way by going directly into PayPal's gateway.

We want to know if anybody else has had this issue or if it is an isolated case? Also, a fix would be nice too.

Thank you!

Just curious...

Nobody else has had any issues with the newest version of PayPal (v3.5.0) and PS (v1.5.4.1)??

We want to know if this is a known issue or something only isolated to us that we should be looking into.

Thanks!

Hi

We have the exact same problem with Prestashop 1.5.2 and latest Paypal module.

Maybe this is not something that people commonly use but for sure it does not work as expected. We have tried a few combinations and none of them except the full refund is working for us.

Hi,

Thanks for posting!

At least we can rule out this is an isolated incident.

We recently upgraded our PayPal module to v3.5.1 (came out a few days ago). We have yet to test if this partial refund issue has been fixed in this version. But once we can test and verify, I will report back here.

Yea, I can't believe more people haven't used the feature... but its def. not working as it should. This issue happens everytime the module is used for a partial refund. This feature worked great on other previous versions, however.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just want to update...

The PayPal module v3.5.1 (newest) still returns a "Fatal error: id_transaction -> null" (something like that) when a standard refund is issued. The refunded quantity is increased so another refund attempt cannot be made; however, the customer is not notified, payment is not refunded, nor is a credit slip generated. It appears that this error is preventing the refund process from completing.

HOWEVER, we have found that using the partial refund works... somewhat. By using this feature the product is successfully refunded at least on paper. Meaning the green confirmation message appears, the refund quantity is updated correctly, the customer is notified via email, and a credit slip is generated. HOWEVER, the actual amount/payment is not refunded as before on previous versions of PS. Rather, we have to manually issue the partial refund by logging into our paypal account (offsite).

At least it partially works and a credit slip is generated with out any errors, but it still puts a step behind as we still ahve to make sure to actually issue the refund manually.

We will keep testing. Any paypal experts... any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please see this thread for a solution: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/234174-how-to-solve-fatal-error-id-transaction-is-null-when-refundingcancelling-orders/page__fromsearch__1

Apply the solution from post 4. It works but it still has not been applied to the newest version of PayPal so you will still need to apply the fix after upgrading your module.

HTH!
