Nothing appears in MySQL (phpmyadmin)?

I'm really new at this... I've been following the installation guide, but it all comes to a halt after I've uploaded prestashop to the FTP server. Nothing appears in my sql database, I really don't have any idea what I'm missing, but it's definitely something... Help??

Have you checked this http://www.prestashop.com/en/getting-started there is video in second section.

 

Basically what I think you need is to create database from your hosting control panel or whithin phpMyAdmin.

I have looked at the video, but there's nothing I haven't done. I have a database, it's just empty. Maybe I'm uploading it through the FTP to the wrong place? Do I need to create something manually in the database in phpMyAdmin?

No it should be empty in that stage.

So you created database and uploaded files through FTP.

Next step is to actually install Prestashop , script will take care of rest. It will auto populate database

so you don't have to do anything manually.

 

The installation process is quite easy, as it is streamlined by PrestaShop's auto-installer. To launch it, simply browse to PrestaShop's location on your hosting: the script will automatically detect that it is not yet installed, and will take you to the auto-installer. From there on, you just have to read and click.

So if you uploaded files to folder "store" for example and your domain is myshop.com, go to myshop.com/store

and follow steps of auto-installer.

Okay, I redid everything, but when I go to my domain I get 404 Not Found... What's wrong?

OK. What is your domain, your host ?

Does your host maybe have Prestahop install script from Cpanel?

My domain is lynxvintage.com, hosted at Loopia, I don't think they do, nothing about it on their site if it's so. Maybe it has something to do with my domain settings? Right now it's UNIX... Maybe there's something wrong with the remote site, the window just says '/'...?

 

Edit: I've tried lots of different folders and things as remote site, everything fails

And where did you copy Prestashop files, root folder, some subfolder ?

Okay I got it right! But when I get to the URL I only come to the index, no install starts. Something I should do?

Sorry I got 404 on your domain.

And you haven't told me in which folder or subfolder on server you copied Prestashop files.

If you want you can PM FTP login detail so I could check it out.
