brendancollis
Hello,, After lots of problems with a former host we decided to move and have a brand new fresh 5.1 prestashop site, all was good until monday when the paypal module started giving errors, returning to and empty cart on all products not just a select few, I have uninstalled and re-installed about 10 times and still no joy. If anyone has any answers that would be amazing as I set the website up for my nephew and his [spam-filter] as a gift and feel I have let them down a bit. the only error code it shows is Error >, and thats it!! Thanks in advance Brendan
Soapi
There's lots of issues with the Paypal module in 1.5 :/ Mine doesn't even give that much of an error - it just takes the customer back to the cart

vekia
you must turn on error reporiting in prestashop configuration file, or you can check error log in apache logs (probably you can find it in your webhosting control panel or in ftp account)

brendancollis
Reply from PayPal,,, can anyone expliain if this is the problem and how to solve it, The process for Express Checkout has your store submit a SetExpressCheckout API call, you will receive a token value, and then redirect your buyer to PayPal. The buyer will sign into their account, select funding source, and go back to your website. Once they're on your site they're supposed to review their payment for a final time before clicking an option on your website that submits the DoExpressCheckoutPayment API call to complete the payment. If the DoExpressCheckoutPayment API call is never submitted the payment will not complete. The error you're receiving is not from PayPal but it may be an interpretation of something you received from PayPal. Are there any error logs for the software you're using? Any help would be good
brendancollis
Ok silly question,,, would the fact I'm running on http:// make any difference ????? the customer goes from my site http:// over to Paypal https:// and then back to my site on http:// Would this make the API calls mess up
Site
Hi, I dont believe the http:// - https:// should make a problem, The fault looks like it lies at "they're supposed to review their payment for a final time before clicking an option on your website that submits the DoExpressCheckoutPayment API call to complete the payment." The last page the customer see's after they have visited Paypal they click confirm payment on your own website - Im guessing some are not doing this causing the payment not to complete and cause an error. I have attached a screenshot - I must say its not really clear to the customer what to do at this stage. Afterall the page shows nothing for them to confirm other than price??? I have submitted an idea to Prestashop for some form of payment review here http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PNM-780 Does your website show this final payment page all the time? [like in the screenshot] ?
brendancollis
The customer gets that page and also a conformation page of order accepted,,, but it shows in the BO payment error, the customer then gets a email saying the the order did not complete ant to contact the customer services... its a proper ball ache as just cant run a business like that. Looks very bad on our part http://www.charliesnailandbeauty.co.uk try it out i'll put a test product for 5p up, will refund back if any payments go through here is the link to the product http://www.charliesnailandbeauty.co.uk/index.php?id_product=246&controller=product Edited December 9, 2012 by brendancollis (see edit history)

brendancollis
it was working fine on the other site, closed that as it slowed down so much it took 2 mins to load a page, that was presta 1.4 ,,, never had any probs with paypal until we loaded 1.
Site
Personally I've held off on the 1.5 upgrade on a few sites due to the numerous bugs within it, so kept with 1.4 Did you use smarty cache on the old 1.4 to improve its speed ? I'm not too sure what's causing the errors now
brendancollis
http://www.charliesnailart.co.uk check it out its using smarty, the database is so slow to react its stupid. same with the back end slow, hence why we moved servers. Just wish we could get the paypal sorted,, failing that we may just get a managed solution.

Site
@brendancollis Your coppermine photo gallery is also a little slow to initially load, so I'm guessing there is a php resource usage limit on your server somewhere for it not to be Prestashop specific. Are you aware of any limits on your server? The module "CUSTOMERS WHO BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT ALSO BOUGHT:" may slow the site down a little
