upgrading from 1.2.9 to 1.5. What can be the expected issues

I am currently using version 1.2.9 version and i want to update my shop to the latest version. I want to know what issues i might face because its a long jump and maybe PS has made some core changes in it. Secondly i have tried to upgrade it like the given documentation but i get an error saying "Previous version not detected" please help me out with this too.

Any links any thread regarding this any professional help from PS team would be greatly appreciated. And also if there is an online procedure to update or if there is some official team which helps people like us to upgrade their shops, kindly connect me to those too.

That is a large jump and more likely than not, you would need professional support.

xxcoder why not take a full backup of your site and set up another prestashop installation in another folder on the server using that backup. The youn can an upgrade on your 1.2.9 version and see what problems might occur

Thank you jhnstcks, you are absolutely correct. Creating a dummy site to upgrade is the first thing you should do, and infact, what would benefit both you and any professional looking at the upgrade.
