The Ambiguity of Selecting the Default Attributes [SOLVED]

Hi!

 

We sell garments in size and color selections (sometimes other attributes too). When a customer buys a product with the default attributes, we can't tell if they did that on purpose or by accident. So we thought we could solve this by creating an "attribute" called "please choose..." as the default. But then we have customers selecting products with these attributes.

 

Has anyone else run into this problem and does anyone have any work arounds?

You must not be using stock keeping. If you do that you can set the quantity to 0 and then they have to select a size.

Have a look at http://www.presto-changeo.com/en/content/7-default-attribute-alert it will alert the customer if they try to add to cart from the product page without changing the attributes.

It was written for an earlier version of PS, so the line #'s may be a bit different, but the logic is the same.

 

You can disable the "Add to cart" from product list pages (from the preferences tab), as it will add the default attribute, or check out one of the following modules which will add attribute selection to those page, or allow a "Preview" with attribute selection.
