pokharelishwor
Hi, I am using PrestaShop 1.4.4 .When I add a subcategory under Home category it shows "creation successful". I can not use that subcategory. ie it is not displayed under catalog tab.I can not added any product to that subcategory because it is not shown while setting category for any product. Currently it only shows 4 sub categories under Home category, although I have added few more sub categories under Home category. One more thing, when I change preference for Force Compile to "no" and save, it give me "success" message but that change is not reflected. Please help! Mike Kranzler
Hi pokharelishwor, Please change Force Compile back to Yes and let me know if that resolves this issue. Also, please be sure to clear your browser's cache, along with your Smarty cache (via FTP) to ensure that you are seeing the very latest changes to your site. -Mike
pokharelishwor
HI Mike, Thank you for your quick response. I tried clearing the browser's cache and smarty cache but still I am unable to see newly added subcategories. FYI, the subcategories are being written to the database. Problem is, I am not able to use those subcategories. Why are they not showing up if they are in database? It is very strange. Thanks

Mike Kranzler
Hi pokharelishwor, It turns out I was a little confused as to your original question, but I believe I have the answer for you now. What do you have set as your shop's default language currently? -Mike
pokharelishwor
Hi Mike, It is English.
Mike Kranzler
Hi Mike, It is English. In the Back Office as well? Can you please check to ensure that English hasn't been disabled anywhere in the Back Office? We've identified this as an issue that can occur if you have the English language disabled, but if that isn't the root cause of your issue I'll be happy to help you find another solution. -Mike

Mike Kranzler
Hi pokharelishwor, I tested this out for you and can confirm that the subcategories are not being properly created. Can you please try switching to the default theme temporarily to see if it works better once you've switched back to the default? -Mike
pokharelishwor
Hi Mike, Sorry for late response. I tried changing to default theme but it didn't work. What can be other possible issues?
Mike Kranzler
Hi pokharelishwor, It looks to me like you're still on your custom theme, not the default. I just did a brand new install of 1.4.4.0 on WAMP, and am not having this issue adding new subcategories with the default theme. Can you please switch back to the default theme and let me know once you've done that so that I can look a little deeper into this for you? -Mike
pokharelishwor
Hi Mike, This site is live so I can not switch back to default theme during day time. I tried switching back to default theme last night and tried adding the categories and it didn't show up.
Mike Kranzler
Hi pokharelishwor, I understand that you do not want to switch the theme on your live site, but have you considered setting it to maintenance mode? This way, the site will be down temporarily while we work on this, and then we can put it back up after a couple quick tests. -Mike
