T-bird
After continual problems with my current hosting company, especially after starting my business with Prestashop, I've decided to switch. I've been looking at loads of reviews on the net and after weeding out all the review sites which are sponsored by the companies they give glowing reviews to and concentrating on customer reviews, I've eliminated GoDaddy, Host Papa, Bluehost, FatCow, Siteground, iPage and Justhost. The only one that consistently seems to get rave reviews is Inmotion. Anyone have any experience with them? Are their servers & hosting package compatible with Prestashop? I live in the UK and would prefer a UK based company (I'm guessing Inmotion is American) but there doesn't seem to be any good ones here. Inmotion isn't the cheapest option by far but I'm willing to pay a bit more for reliable service and good tech support. Any advice would be appreciated or suggestions for other good hosting companies. Thanks, Andy www.thunderbirdmodels.co.uk
Dave L
I have been using webfusion.com for years. The are based in Nottingham. Their uptime has been faultless. Tech support has been good and their VPS packages are great value. I did a comparison a few months ago for a client and found that most of the others that appeared cheaper were charging extra for things webfusion have a standard. I am now based in Thailand but I will be sticking with webfusion.

jhnstcks
I've been using Scotserve for ages now and have to say they have been excellent. They don't over subscribe their servers, unlike a lot of hosting companies so there is no slow down due to overcrowding. I pay £20 for 10gig disk space, but unmetered on everything else, not sure how competitive that is but i would rather pay slightly higher and get a better service than go with the cheapest option and have my site suspended every other week for one reason or another. OC2PS
Depending on the amount of dosh you are willing to dole, Rackspace could be an excellent choice. I have used them for the several companies and found them to be almost flawless.
tomerg3
STAY AWAY FROM INMOTION! I used to use them, well, I actually still use them, but only for my demo / testing site. Their support is horrible, if you actually have a real problem, they have low level idiots answering the phone, and you have to waste at least 15 minutes before they finally agree to escalate the issue further. They almost never return any calls and often give incorrect advice. The first 6 or so months that I used them (VPS), I thought they were great, but once I had some real issues and need a good advice, that's when the real inmotion came to light. Prior to that I used bluehost, which I was quite happy with (I had some issues with the server getting overloaded, but that is a part of shared hosting issues). If you have a small site (under 10K visitors a month), bluehost should suite you just fine. If you have 10-20K, you should go with a VPS (not inmotion), the best way is to do research about their support (which is usually the most important thing about a good host). Do they have 24/7 support, who is actually answering the phones? can you get in touch (by phone) with a technician that can answer questions / suggest a solution. If you get over 20K visitors a month, you should go with a dedicated server (your shop should be making enough money to justify the $200 a month).
