PrestaShop Back Office in the form of a desktop application (not a Web app)

Recommended Posts

Hey people !

I just started this projet last night !

It's just an experimental projet.

If this projet don't find users, I could stop it. I think it should take time for me too.

Third, it's not a future PrestaShop feature. So don't ask for a release date for the moment !

I just want to remind you that this is a personal projet, so if some people want to share this projet with me, that's OK !

But if you have suggest,

I remind you too it's an open source projet too :)

Have a nice day :)

:D

Does this link to the website the same as Prestaclient i.e. remote sql access, if it does then i can't use it, as my server only allows 1 static ip for remote access, and my isp uses dynamic ip.

No I will use another way, may be SOAP. You will be able to use this tool with every PrestaShop website. No remote sql access, no other port than 80 to open....

NOTE :
No auto-installer for the moment, so it could be hard for some people to install.

May be a wiki page in a few time, or auto-installer.... I don't know for the moment, it's just a fresh projet, let me think about it :)...

This sounds awesome! Hope you remember virtual product webshops! Now at the moment virtual goods are quite pain in the ass to upload with php/web interface...

-Background upload manager so that you can continue to add more products while uploading continues at background!
-Product/Category editor, with multilingual function (i can help with translation to Finnish)
-Resize images before uploading (reduces greatly network traffic)
-Possible csv virtual (or downloadable) product import

Just for starters :)

Real life example: i created one product that is 32Mb, with my adsl upload is not that good, it took 15-20minutes to upload :) and after this i put some product images (resized those a bit before upload) 10 images to be correct. that took atleast another 15mins... so only one product took massive 30min of time! With upload manager i can create those products and just put the computer to make the rest like at night...

Lucas,

Sure that such a tool can help !!!!

I didn't know PHP-GTK, but I've search on the web (you know, I've a friend named Goo.. ;-) ) how I could run your demo on windows.

I join you the method I've used to install GTK and Glade on window.
I don't know if the included PHP encloses all the extension you may need. But it's a first step...

I'm curious to know how your connection to DB will be done.

Thank you all,
My project seems interest you. That sounds good ! Millenium, good idea and good reasons to use this kind of tool.

For the DB connection, I think i'll use a web-service module. For the moment I don't know what's my choice, SOAP, XML-RPC, REST.... I think the REST technology is interesting :)

Have a nice night,

So you began a few days ago and you already need to :

- develop it multi-platform, not only windows and linux, but also mac os x

- develop it multi-languages (included dutch translations)

- include a lot of feature like calendars & co

- develop a soap interface so that everyone can use it on its host

- create an installer

- and, of course, release it now

Keep on, you're on the right way :P

Hello TropischBruin,

I'm quite busy for the moment, so the projet is on hold.

But I think about technical features, and the REST architecture will be too hard to adapt to PrestaShop v1. So I think about webservices, exactly SOAP, a standard for the moment. I will unhold the project when I'll have much time for me.

Thank to be interesting,

If anyone of you think about other feature suggest, don't be shy :)

Ciao ciao

I think the first thing to do develope would be a good SOAP interface for Prestashop, that way, we can create many different clients that access the interface.
MAC users can build one client, Windows one and so on.

A good interface would probobly lead to many different client softwares being developed.

Hi, I'm new to PS, and this project seems very interesting!

I'm just seeking for a SOAP service to get, send & update, the catalog store in the database. That service can be called from anywhere through the 80 port.

I'll be starting with the Schema of the XML that reflect the PS database. If anyone wants to help with that, everybody is welcome!
