bug with links after upgrading to 1.4 - category does not exist

Recommended Posts

When I click on view button on some products, there's an error: Category does not exist.

Error is shown when the URL is in this form:
http://www.domain/SUBCATEGORY/product-a-a-a.html

Some products form the SAME subcategory have links
http://www.domain/PARENT-CATEGORY/product-b-b-b.html
and those work.

Please help me with this, because i really don't know what to do. People can't see half of my products.

Thank You

I have the same problem but with a new instal of 1.4.

Yesterday I was able to add products and categories without any problems. Today I have created a new category and added products to it. When I view my website I can click on the category but when I click on the view VIEW button of a product in this category I get

There is 1 error :

01.Category does not exist

The category and the product both exist in my back office and are visible so why is this happening? Any assistance would be appreciated. I hope it isn't a bug in 1.4 otherwise I will have to remove 1.4 and start again with an older version.

Regards

Nick

After some trial and error I think I can see where the problem is.

The categories that have this odd problem were both categories with numbers in their name. By this I mean that one of my categories is as follows

100% Brushed Cotton Fitted Sheets

Prestashop strips out the % sign to leave the friendy url as 100-brushed-cotton-sheets. Any category with numbers in , seems to have the same problem. If I drop the 100 and just have brushed-cotton-sheets as the friendly url then my product is there to be seen. If I put the 100 back in the url the problem is back.

The problem is that I have some categories where there has to be a number in it to distinguish it from another category. For example 200-thread-count-egyptian-cotton and 400-thread-count-egyptian cotton.

Strangely it does not matter if the product itself has a number in it, just the category can't have numbers.

If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this I would love to hear.

thanks for sharing the information.

I think category and product are using different way for the URL rewrite rule.
it seems for ccategory, the name is used for identify category. for product , id is used.
in this case, you will have to avoid using the special characters.

I will check this out later when I get back home.
