Well I found out something interesting, check the database version you are using, I had the same problem and after a couple of hours of working with the database settings and all that i decided to use an older version of mysql not the 5.7 i was using and 5.6 worked for me, switch to something like 5.5 or 5.6 and hopefully it works for you too.
