Product Cover image bug

So I have just realised to show the cover image as the image in the category product list, the image I want to use has to be one that is selected for the default product.

In the BO I have moved the cover image to be the last image like this...

This isnt a problem, but now when I click on that product and choose a colour option, the cover image is shown and not the image.
it still shows the cover image when the customer chooses a colour.

Any idea how to show the image (blue kit in above image) when the blue option is selected ?

Im on Prestashop 1.7.2

Hello from germany,

do you find any solution? I've the same problem since updating from 1.7.6 to 1.7.7.7 😞
