Can't get logged into BO

Hi, I've downloaded 1.6.1.2 and placed installed it all correctly - database is correct and front end opens ok, but when i try and get into Back Office I get the screen shot attached 

 

Any ideas please?

using chrome open new 'incognito' window and see if that solves.  

also I recommend for new shops to download latest stable 1.7.4.2

Thanks, but exactly the same happens - any other ideas?

Re 1.6 - we're just using it for a simple club system rather than front end shop and 1.6 is easy to use.

be easy to use if it was working lol

to me looks like .css is not being served via your screen shot

I'd enable ps debug mode, search if you are not sure and see if any errors are displayed, also check your hosting php error log.

but while you are at it try 1742, it has a much better admin UI than 1.6.....if I never work on another 1.6 it will be to soon...
