[ SOLVED ] Prestashop very slow

I am using prestashop 1.3.3. I was very impressed by it. But when i finished my websop and imported +/- 3500 product it seemed to me that is loads very (very very )slow. Is there a bug or is there something else wrong. My webshop is www.totalsoftware.nl/shop

Is there anyone who can help me out?

Try the new 1.4 version, very fast with a lot of options to improve performances.

In this version, go to your admin panel and to "Preferences > Performances" tab.

Did you try without MGC Carousel

sometimes a random choice of products display can make slower

To many categories.

Every time the page loads it has to load every single category in the category block each time. Try uninstalling the categories block and see if that improves performance.

Try changing the categories block for cached categories http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/72254/third_party_modules/module_modified_cached_categories__huge_speed_increase

@jolvil: I disabled the MGC Carousel, it almost didn't improve the speed.

@jhnstcks: YES, when i disable the category block it really improves the speed. The webshop really loads fast, however i really need a catagory block. Soon i will try your other suggestions. thx

@Jhnstcks: I solved my problem. I did use the cached catagories block. My shop loads now fast. thx for your imput.

Think about activating smarty compile cache :

/config/smarty.config.inc.php
L10. $smarty->force_compile = true; // to pass "false" when put into production

Without cache, each time a template is called, smarty has to compile tempate code into
php code. This cache is really important for category block which call reccursively the same
template, so each category require compilation for the same template. With cache, each
category use the compiled cache.
