disappearing orders?

Hello, I am trying my website with paypal test, using paypal sandbox. I have created and configured the sandbox accounts. I put items on my chart and I go for the payment which gets processed in the paypal test environment. I go back to the website but the order is gone and it is not even listed in the order history. (I checked in ps_orders and it is not there either)
What's wrong?

(I did configure paypal in accordance to what is specified by prestashop when configuring the paypal payment module)

Yes, the email address on the PayPal module configuration page should match the one used in your PayPal account. It doesn't have to match your shop's email address though.

That message means that PayPal sent back a "Pending" message, meaning that there will be a delay in processing the payment. The order should appear once payment is completed.
