EverythingsOverpriced
Is Prestabox site data backed up anywhere? In the event that categories, products are deleted by mistake is there any way of restoring a data backup? What safeguards are built in Prestabox to avoid disaster - total loss of site?Advice much appreciated I'm not aware of any backup functions that come included in PS. There should be but I'm not aware of one.As far as I'm aware, you have two options:1. Backup your database directly. You can do this via your database management tool.2. If you installed PS using an automatic script installer, such as Softaculous for example, then you can also create backups via Softaculous. I hope this helps. Good luck. scottchopp
Thanks apprenticeThe question arises because I have deleted data inadvertently before - shoe shop with all the different sizes and colours - it took some time to setup:-(My next project may include 000's of items which will be added to Prestabox over a period of time, the completed system being tweaked within Prestabox so there won't really be just one database that I can fall back on to reimport if necessary. So I really need a way of backing up a complete database as stored in PB or at least being able to export a complete database including images, features etcMaybe PB isn't the right solution, maybe PS fits the bill better for backup etc but we're trying to avoid designing and getting involved with the nuts and bolts side. scottchopp
According to Prrestabox's own feature list at http://www.prestabox.com/features/ under administration, Database backup (partial or full) is included in the system? Can anybody educate me on where it hides in Prestabox? I'd pay for a module that backs up the database if it's the only way?Can anybody offer a definitive answer on how to back up a Prestabox database? rocky
Go to the Tools > DB Backup tab to create backups. You can download the backups to your computer. There is no option to restore backups though.
scottchopp
Thanks Nethercott but as you can see from the screen image I don't have the Db Backup option! Can you tell if I'm running on the latest version - if not how do I upgrade?Having had some communication with Prestabox support I have been advised that they can recover Prestabox databases (sites) up to a month old for a cost of 150 euro PrestaShop™ - Administration panel.pdf
rocky
That's strange. That version should have that option. I'm not sure what PrestaBox's policy is regarding with backups. Perhaps they don't allow you to do manual backups. You could try going to Tools > Tabs and creating a new tab with the following settings:Name: DB BackupClass: AdminBackupIcon: /img/t/AdminBackup.gifParent: ToolsThis should add the tab, unless PrestaBox purposely didn't upload AdminBackup.php to the server. scottchopp
No way of adding tabs, Rocky - can re-order them but that's itAs an aside I'm wondering:Are others running Prestabox without any backup? Why does Prestabox take so long by email to assist it's users?and why is there not a specific English Prestabox forum?Otherwise sucha great product
