No Compare Product / Also Purchased / Also Viewed ?

Recommended Posts

At first, I was considering Open Cart because of the good credits received on its excellent fundamental designs from most users but the core features are still very limited.

Then, I was attracted to TomatoCart which just entered the Top-5 finalists for 2010 Best Open Source E-Commerce Award, it seems more superior than Open Cart in terms of core features, and its overall layout is also neat and intuitive. However, it's a new cart just celebrating its 1st-year anniversary, still lacking of 3rd-party add-ons.

Now, when I've made up a decision to choose Prestashop because of its abundant core features, I just realise that Prestashop is missing of the Compare Product / Also Purchased / Also Viewed core features. What's disappointed, these features cost 100++ as an add-on.

Since TomatoCart comes with the Compare Product and Also Purchased core features, it's now worth a consideration.

Thank You, in fact, the abundant core features of Prestashop are really impressive and appealing.

Unfortunately, without the Compare Product core feature, PrestaShop may become useless when selling Electronic Products especailly Phone, Notebook, TV, DVD Player and etc.

Most customers are likely to compare the electronic / electrical products based on a set of common standards against the price as well as taking the customers' reviews into consideration before making any purchases.

PrestaShop has many outstanding core features, I'm wondering why this de facto standard feature is missing on the list.

Because of this, I've decided to choose TomatoCart for the niche of electronic / electrical products.

Also Viewed is another desirable marketing tool coz most shoppers are likely to follow those who have viewed the same products.

You could use the "Features" option in PrestaShop to compare the features of products. That would rely on customers opening two products in different tabs to compare them though. I think what you mean is being able to select any products and then have a comparison shown, which is only possible with paid modules like the one above.

Also viewed module has always been part of Prestashop since i started using a few years back. Its called Viewed products block.

Compare products can be found at http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/69239/appels_doffres_et_prestations/module_compare_products its in French and its not free think its only 25 Euros

Thanks for the hints on Also Viewed, I'll test it out coz I didn't find a proper guide on PrestaShop and there's no detailed description of every outlined feature here at http://www.prestashop.com/en/allfeatures/

The User Guide Wiki just touches superficially on the general issues here at http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/PrestaShop_User_Guide/

Sorry, I don't read French

Yes, exactly, I want the products to be added into the Compare List, like the TomatoCart at http://www.tomatocart.com/wiki/Managing_Customer-Generated_Content , scroll down to the Compare Product session, you'll the see the picture.

Indeed, the user guide of TomatoCart has already presented me some in-depth know-hows and possible limitations of the system even without hands-on.

The viewed products module only lets you see products you have viewed, not products that other customers who viewed the current product also viewed.

I see, then it's called a user's view history, not "also viewed by others", anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Good news. Product comparison has just been added to PrestaShop v1.4. Here are screenshots.

Hi,
Wow, sincerely appreciate your update on this issue. Sooner, Prestashop can be used for Electronic Products with a set of common standards for comparison.

By the way, where to check the list of features to be added in 1.4 ? Thanks again.

  • 1 month later...

Is there any way in 1.4 version where one can check or compare the prices of a particular product. I have a digital download shop and I need it to compare coz i know am the cheapest coz i sell anything for jsut a dollar. I really need that module or whatever to help me or my customer to know which is the cheapest.

Yes, PrestaShop v1.4 has a "Compare products" option, but it only lets you select products from your site on the product listing pages and click a "Compare" button to compare them. There is no module to compare products on your website to other websites if that is what you mean.
