What criteria is used by Prestashop to pull products on the featured or new section?

Suppose all my products are new and featured, what criteria will Prestashop use to pull products for the NEW and FEATURED sections if those sections have limited number of entries?

Will it choose at random? By date? By Sales?

Featured = you must add your products to home category in order that they can be shown on Homepage tab. Random only if you disable the cache option on the tab Advanced Parameters -> Performance -> Cache = NO. There is no limitation, you can add your whole catalog to it, cause products are shown by random (each new products by each new session). It's a good module for to promote whole catalog.

New = it's not random. Products will be shown according to the configuration on tab Preferences -> products -> Number of days for which the product is considered 'new' . The products will be showed according to ID. So products added as first are showing as last and newer entries as first.
