Can customers choose their carriers depending on cost and speed?

I wondering if it is possible for the customers to choose which shipping to use when ordering.

I mean some people may want their order delivered ASAP while others dont mind waiting a little longer and paying less.

For example:

Royal Mail (1st Class)
Royal Mail (Next Day)
FedEx (Next Day)
BizPost (Next Day)

I am new to PS but I had these available in OSCommerce.

Yes you can do that. Create your carriers with all details about shipping costs and delivery time and enable them
where they ship to. Then when a customer follow the order steps he will see all available carriers with details to choose from.
