Pre-Order Products?

Is it possible to set a product to be pre-ordered with the date displayed? How can I do this?

Will all your out-of-stock products be pre-order? If so, go to Preferences > Products and change "Allow ordering of out-of-stock product" to "Yes". Otherwise, you can specify it on a product-by-product basis. Edit the product, change the "Quantity" to 0 and change "When out of stock" to "Allow orders" if necessary. You can then enter a pre-order message including the date in the "Displayed text when allowed to be back-ordered" field.

There's no UI for this, I created the following query but I've yet to test it properly (and I'm TERRIBLE at writing queries so hopefully someone here can improve on it):

I only need one product for pre-order not all of my out of stock products, is this possible?

I did exactly what you described above which works fine apart from the translation. It keeps getting the default string of Out of stock instead my custom text.

Any ideas?
