Can Prestashop do this?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am getting more and more convinced that prestashop is the right way to go.
But I still have a few questions that i would like to get answered before starting to trouble my head to deep in how it is built up.

1. Can prestashop have a Quantety box for easy updating quantity (often sell 3 ore 4 of each model from category page)
2. Can Prestashop Have at least 3 products in a row the list gets so long with only 1 product on each row
3. Export/Import seems to be a never ending story how is it I have used Easypopulate for Osc and I love it Who can make it for prestashop for me? :D
4. Will I ever regret a change from osc to Prestashop? ;)

For the questions I am also willing to pay for a module if you know it exist one so it dos not need to be all included from beggining.

I agree about the quantity text box. I'd rather see that than the stupid little +, - buttons. They aren't just lame in usage, they are pretty lame looking, too. I've changed the CSS to make sure they are always on top of each other, in the default theme, they are not aligned.

I may put together some edits to change the qty stuff to a textbox, let me work with it.

1) When you say "Quantity Update Module" are you referring to having the ability to update the inventory of multiple products through the BO? Or are you talking about the quantity box that customers use to input how many of something they want to purchase?

-For the first there are quick update modules out there... the ones that actually seem to work are paid versions. There is a free one floating around these forums, but it seems like consensus is that it doesn't work for most people and is unreliable. Check these out...

-For the second... I think this is doable. Without taking a closer look at it... I think it is possible, but it would require some code changes.

2) Yes you can have 3 (or 4 or 5) products in the products-list and home pages. Some themes do this for you, so if you don't want to spend too much time or don't have to abilities you may want to find or buy a new theme. There are instructions (although scattered) throughout the forum that would give you a starting point. Basically, you need to edit your CSS file to rearrange the layout(s).

3)I'm not too sure about this question... I am also trying to figure this one out. I used the default import function to initially import all our products form our old shop, which went fairly well... but from other things I've heard here and there I don't know if it is a reliable method of using the import function to periodically update you product data. Like I said, we are trying to figure this one out... and may give it a shot for one of our shops. But until then I can't help much here... if someone else has tried something like this I would be very much interested in knowing how it turned out.

4) Honestly, I have not used OSC... so I can't give you an unbiased answer. However, from my experiences... I have absolutely no regret going with PS. There was a slight learning curve at the beginning, and I spent countless hours modifying our shop to the way I wanted it and right now I couldn't be happier. There are always some negatives (or room for improvement) with any shopping cart, and PS some functions that could be added (by default) or optimized. But if your open to modifying some code... I could see PS fulfilling most of our needs with a little help and work. Also, there are a lot of modules (probably not as many as OSC) that have easily solved many of our problems.

HTH!
