Problems with Maintenance.tpl

Hi,

(Yes, I did a search already before asking.)

I am trying to change the message that displays in maintenance mode. I tried to edit the message in the maintenance.tpl file but after I do, I just get a blank page when viewing the site. If I re-upload the original maintenance.tpl again - I get the generic message again.

I used File Manager in CPanel and used the edit option in File Manager to edit maintenance.tpl. What am I doing wrong?????

What I want to do is leave the site under development (offline), and display the equivalent of a Coming Soon message.

You must be making a mistake when changing the text, or in the mode it being uploaded. If all you want to do is change the message, you can go to Tools > Translations > Front Office translations and scroll down to the "prestashop - maintenance" section to change it.

Okay, and now I get garbled text - the formatting is off, and there is a strange "rnrn" or "rn" in between words (wherever there is a space or break).
