Product Images bulk Upload

I am new to prestashop and I face a tremendous issue uploading images for products/combinations.

Since I am very easy with SQL, I wonder if a tool/module could be built, getting a set of product image addresses (csv/excel) and then, for each imported image, add a record in a custom db table with columns: image_file_name, image_number in the internal prestashop image folder. This way I can populate the ps_product_attribute_image table using sql. 

Any ideas? How easy is such a tool to be implemented?

There is already build in such function in Admin panel, you have option to import CSV products, categories and images, although i have never test it and i don't know how well it is working.
